The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Entry-Level certification tests are designed to indicate a satisfactory level of practical knowledge-based readiness for the workforce in candidates seeking a career in the automotive service industry.

Earn Industry-Recognized Credentials

This program offers students the opportunity to earn certifications through I-CAR®, the Inter-Industry Conference on Auto Collision Repair. Certifications include:

Intro to Collision Repair- Students with this certification have attained the foundational knowledge and skill needed to be successful in more advanced I-CAR® Collision Repair Training.

Non-Structural Technician- Students with this certification have attained the knowledge and skill needed to restore damaged exterior panels to their original integrity, function, and appearance.

Refinish Technician- Students with this certification have attained the knowledge and skill needed to prepare and apply paint to repair and restore a vehicle's appearance to pre-accident conditions.

Go Further with Articulated Credits

Articulation is designed to create a smooth transition for students from secondary education to post-secondary education by awarding college credit for career/technical courses taken in high school.

Contestants demonstrate their ability to perform jobs and skills based on the task list outlined by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the ASE Education Foundation.

The competition includes a series of workstations to assess skills in the following areas: metal straightening, attachment methods, plastic repair and structural analysis. The overall appearance of the finished product, speed and proper safety practices are judged.

There are written tests on estimating, structural analysis, and an ASE exam. The students fill out a job application, bring a resume, and go through a mock interview.
