What is an Industry-Recognized Credential / Certification
An Industry Recognized Credential is the culminating evidence of a learner's proficiency in competencies that equip them for a productive career in a specific industry.
NCCER CURRICULUM
The Welding Technology program utilizes NCCER’s four-level curriculum covers topics such as:
-
oxyfuel cutting,
-
welding symbols, and
-
stainless-steel groove welds.
2022 AWS Credentials / Certifications Earned
NCCER’s curriculum correlates to the AWS SENSE (Schools Excelling through national Skills Education) standards and guidelines for Entry-level welders.
AWS D1.1 Certification covers all of the necessary skills students need to become a skilled welder.
Students who earn this certification have demonstrated professional, efficient work habits.
This certification remains effective indefinitely as long as the welder does not go more than six months without using that process.

Alabama SkillsUSA provides students with job skills training & 21st Century employability skills.
Students can grow their technical and leadership skills through:

Competitors receive contest drawings and a set of welding procedure specifications.
All drawings, welding symbols, and welding terms conform to the latest edition of the American Welding Society standards.
SKILLSUSA CAREER TECH STUDENT ORGANIZATION (CTSO)
Through a series of work stations, contestants are tested on various aspects of welding including:

measuring weld replicas,
-
using weld measuring gauges,
-
laying out a plate, and
-
using oxy-acetylene equipment
SKILLSUSA CAREER TECH STUDENT ORGANIZATION (CTSO)
Competitors complete the steel project and weld an aluminum project in various positions using a variety of filler metals.
OUTSTANDING STUDENTS ARCHIVES
WELDING TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM COMPLETERS
To be a completer, students need to finish at least two CTE courses in the pathway, including the final capstone course.
